The University of Queensland | Centre for Clinical Research Business Case
Period of involvement: 2005
Client: The University of Queensland
As one of the first 3 projects for the newly established VenturePro way back in 2005, Patrick developed the business case to establish the UQ Centre for Clinical Research. The proponents had made a pitch for this funding in each of the previous 3 years. Patrick consulted with the key stakeholders and identified the requirements to defragment and enhance clinical research at the site, the likely economic benefits from the project, and the most appropriate model to ensure alignment with the relevant objectives of the State Government. Funding was received from Atlantic Philanthropies and the Queensland State Government.
In the month prior to this project Patrick also prepared the successful business cases to establish the Queensland Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Network ($5.5 million) and the AIBN BioNano Product Development Facility ($6.5 million) at UQ.
Key outcomes achieved: The UQCCR project received $76m from funders, investors and partners.
